I planned to take Harry to a local museum today as they were running an under 5s activity session. He is quite hard to arrange things with. Sometimes he absolutely wants to know in advance what he is going to do, other times he will refuse to go somewhere if he knows what the plans are, even though I know that if I don't tell him and just go, he ( Read more... )

Yes :) I didn't mention that I was secretly proud of him for wanting to do that rather than play with the toys or do the craft things ;)

What a sweat day for him and you! I love how he calls the artifacts "old things."

Yes. It goes down as being one of the nicest afternoons I've spent with him :)

This morning he was still talking about it. He told me how he liked the tiny soldiers (little tin ones with tanks showing a war scene) but he didn't like the real one (life size one in the muddy trenches). Don't know if he actually thinks it was a real person or not!

glad you had a good day - you know what, I always liked museums too even from very young and I think over the years my parents ended up taking me to every museum there was when we visited places!

I don't tell mine things in advance as they badger me constantly then & also get upset if things change. I have no idea if it's normal or not, but we go to the museum a few times each month & look at the "old things" Kate & Holls both find it interesting, it's only 2 rooms as it's very small. I must take them back to the Wakefield one in the easter holidays as that's over 2 floors, so have lots more stuff to do.
