Okay, I've only caught an episode here and there. I have to tell you up front that I have been against this show since the beginning. They have changed everything about the books. Elena was blonde in the books, Carolyn was the dark haired gal. Bonnie had red hair and freckles. Matt was just Matt--Elena's old boyfriend. Not Vickie's brother. ( Read more... )

I totally and completely agree with everything that you have said. I have to discount the show as AU to enjoy it because of all the changes, but I'm really truly enjoying it and keep watching it. I can't help it. I fell in love with the books when I was 12 years old and they still hold a special place in my heart.

I have hopes that they will incorporate more of the feelings in the book regarding Katherine, Klaus, etc. But you know TV shows, things have to be entertaining so they'll pretty much do whatever they want.

Feel free to rant. I do so to my husband who has never read the books and doesn't really understand. lol

Haha. My mom also read the books and she refuses to watch the show. She said that if they were going to change everything, they should have changed the title too. lol

What did happen to Vickie? She's not around and I haven't hear anyone mention Klaus...in fact the last Vickie episode I saw, Damon had practically changed her. I need to catch up. lol

I haven't watched it yet - I have the pilot on my laptop for when I finally sit down for more than five minutes!

Did you know that my work publishes L.J.Smith? Yep... that's me... bragging!! LOL!

You brag away! I have my original copies of the books (yes, from like early 90s) and I bought new copies when the books were combined into two-books-in-one-cover. Plus I bought the new one--but haven't read it yet.
