Wow I've not been in SPN fandom long but even I can tell people are starting to 'feel the stress' I mean the premier is (technically) tomorrow and it seems like the Drama is in full force. In one of the comm's I read/watch someone got all up in arms over people not being 'nice' to their friend. And all the stuff about people posting the latest meme ( Read more... )

drama and wangst, blah blah blah, wow, random, fandom: supernatural

Aaawwwww. That sucks. I try to stay out of the Drama and know in my mind that none of it really means a whole lot as I really only know most of the fandom peripherally. And really Fandom is supposed to be a stress reliever, not an inducer.

yeah, I avoid drama at all costs. Unfortunately, I was the brunt of a huge attack in another fandom. I said I didn't like something (not criticizing, just that I didn't like it) and I got attacked by a whole bunch of people. So I left. I agree, fandoms are supposed to be fun.

This is only like the third fandom I've really gotten hard core into (Stargate, and The Sentinel are the other two). And it's interesting to see the differences in fandom between them. I really do enjoy just sitting back and watching certain things be taken out of context (I'm not about getting into the middle of the drama). But there is such a love with in this particular fandom (for both Dean and Sam, and Jensen and Jared) that not getting involved is just not possible. It's just the level to which you want to be involved.

I'm truly amused by sone things and scared by others. If you take a trip down to the spnsecrets community, you'll both laugh your head off and be horrified.

It's like a soap opera, or a reality show. Be careful: it can be addictive.

As far as fandoms go, this is the first one I'm really involved in, basically because I have the attention span of a 5 year old, therefore I've never been interested in anything long enough to get into a fandom.

I've been reading fics here and there, and I've been writing some, but this time...I don't know. I basically started writing in another language just to be part of this, and I even bought the ticket for the Asylum convention!! OMG, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. I'll blame it on the feverish delirium my cold surely caused, yes yes.

I love that this fandom basically forces people out of their 'comfort zones' (i.e. reading kinks they swore they'd never touch (incest/RPS), using an unknown language to communicate (I've never been in a multi-national fandom before), shelling out money when we probably shouldn't (con tickets, overseas postage for christmas cards...) I LOVE IT).

This fandom has introduced me to so many new people, it's been amazing.
