Why Slash?

So my hubby and I were talking, and the subject turned (as it is want to do with me) to my reading/writing habits. And of course the first question he always asks me when we talk about Fandom is 'Why Slash? What's the draw? Why do you read/write it as much as/more then Het or Gen?' Well, for me it's just always been slash. I never had any pull to het.. ever. I don't read it, like at all.

I think it's for the same reason that men like girl on girl porn. 2 or more amazingly hot men together, is enough of a pull for me.

I can read/write Het; but it's gotta be the right pairing (most of my Het comes from the Law & Order 'verse, I just don't see the slash there...) But in all my other fandom's it's Slash. I'm having trouble putting the 'why' into an understandable sentiment. Every time I try I get all *flail-y!hands* and incomprehensible squealing, and '...boy!kissing/touching/smexing!...' And I think my poor Hubby is sick of hearing that.

I don't know... because the only slash I've ever been into is Sam/Dean. :)

While true it lacks the 'source quoting' that my hubby is oh so very fond of. He's a very detail oriented personality, so unless I can go off on a 20 minute diatribe about it the explanation isn't enough...
