I might be able to go to the 'Salute to Supernatural' Convention in New Jersey in May. It would only be for one day, in the 'cheap seats' section and I'd only be getting Misha's auto/photo. But still

Yes, I've enjoyed myself when I've gone to cons for a single day. There used to be a local multi-media con that I never attended for the whole weekend--usually because I had to go to work. So I generally went on Saturday and just had fun with whatever was happening that day. I even attended a few panels on TV series that are not my fave just because it was still fun to be in a room full of enthusiastic fans discussing their favorite things.
I think that (being in a roomful of people who are just as excited/enthusiastic as me about the subject) is what I'm looking forward to the most. That camaraderie, the knowledge that the person sitting next to me is just as eager to hear what the speaker is saying as I am, the sense of community even if I don't know a blessed thing about anyone else in the room.

Exactly it! What is so wonderful about a room full of fans is that you don't have to explain to anyone else why you read fic, watch the same ep over and over again, save DVDs and pictures. Even walking in the dealer room, you run into someone looking at pics of S&H or H50 and suddenly have something to talk about with a person you never met, but shares the same references and squees that you do. How often does that happen in regular life?
