The Year In Review
From geekymary.

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Like Mary, I can't tell. But I know what I did. :)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Sort of. I actually don't know if it was my resolution this year, but I did lose weight. Not as much as I wanted, but it's a start.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister-in-law had a child with my brother, which makes me officially an uncle by blood. (I'm a half-uncle to my half-brothers' kids.)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank God.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada in August for the Stratford Festival. A trip to England fell through in April.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
A place of my own and a start on my career.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
A few. May was a big month. May 4th (final college production closes), May 10th (final theater banquet at Stritch), May 18th (when I graduated college), December 14th (and not because of Saddam).

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating from college.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Wow. Umm... I should be failing at something.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing big, thank God (again).

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Two things: upgrade to my computer after three years and a brand new camcorder (which I look forward to actually using).

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I don't know. I keep thinking of the late Joan Kroc, who donated $200 million to National Public Radio, arguably the only true source for news.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
President Bush.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills bills bills.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Many things. My graduation was one. "The Return Of The King" opening.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?
A few again. "Last Goodbye," "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Bring Me To Life."

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner
iii. richer or poorer? It's all relative. I have more money, but I have more bills.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, exercising, saving money.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting around and spending money.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family and friends.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
Perhaps. But not exclusively!

23. How many one-night stands?
None!

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Simpsons, Mr. Show.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Some people I'm more frustrated with. I don't think I hate anyone, though.

26. What was the best book you read?
"The Return of The King" It was the first LOTR book that I read before seeing the film, so seeing the film was quite exciting.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
It's simple, but I rediscovered The Beatles along with their solo efforts, Zooey Deschanel, Evanescence, Mark Mothersbaugh.

28. What did you want and get?
Wouldn't you like to know?

29. What did you want and not get?
I don't think I wanted much. Maybe some DVDs, I don't know.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Return of the King.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Actually, it was the least eventful birthday I've had in years. I think I just dog-sat for my parents. (Wow!)

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I don't know. It was pretty satisfying as it was.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
Concept? Umm.... I started wearing long-sleeve shirts underneath short-sleeve shirts.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends and my job.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The late Charlie Chaplin.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Not surprisingly, the War in Iraq.

37. Who did you miss?
Turinski and Phil, cuz they're so far away. I always miss my Milwaukee friends.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
monkeymanluv I met her last year, but I didn't know her until this year.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003:
"Sunrise doesn't last all morning/A cloud burst doesn't last all day ... It's not always gonna be this great/All things must pass"

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Another one? "And in the end/The love you take/Is equal to the love/You make"

Takin' care,
Neil
