Iowa is cooler than California

It's official.

And while shaking up people's regional assumptions is always a good thing, I'm finding it bizarre that I can get married in Des Moines but not San Francisco.

At least Mr. Sulu is still married.  Are all the people who got in under the wire now saying "neener, neener"?

It's been weird in CA since November, and it's about to get even ( Read more... )

I share your anger/rage. Since when does ANYONE get to vote on civil rights?
Blech! What makes it appallingly disgusting to me is that so-called Xian denominations swooped into a state not their own and funded this hatred initiative. Then the court makes a political ruling that is almost as appalling - depriving some people of a civil right while allowing others, similarly situated, that same right. Hmmm, gee, there's a constitutional argument there.
This should go to the Supreme Court when the balance is better - just think there's a split among the circuits....
But God forBID we lose our guns!
Excuse me, I have to throw up!

I'm terrified of this going to the Supreme Court. The plaintiffs have said they aren't going to appeal -- even if they could, which I don't think would work, since it's a state court ruling on a state constitution.

I miss you! You need to represent some of my kids for a change!

You're right on that! Despite the new nominee, the balance isn't right yet. However, even with the ultra-conservative court we had, they did overrule Bowers, so who knows.
I was thinking about this when I saw on MSNBC (love Rachel M, LOL!!) that the two attorneys on both sides of Bush v. Gore are joining forces to file a lawsuit in federal court, stating that Prop 8 is inherently unconstitutional (no duh):)
For all the evil, revolting hatred there is, I think many are weary of all the nonsense and believe in same-sex marriage. C'mon - how many 100 percent "straight" families really exist? There's at least one gay child among all the cousins in our large family.
Miss you too - you would have loved the mediation we had 5/15. Your colleague did a beautiful job in what could have been a literal three-ring circus:)
I am such a mediation cheerleader!
Take care,
J
