Mt. Ichifusa video

Last weekend I actually made another video using some footage I took when hiking at Mt. Ichifusa. I figured I wouldn't be back there for a long time (unless someone wants to climb it with me...), so I might as well take some video to remember it by, haha ( Read more... )

Thanks for the cool video! Wow, Mt. Ichifusa is quite tall - 1721 m. Those old cedar trees are huge, it must be amazing to walk around them in the forest. I wonder how old is that hanging stone, it could be there for millennia, probably moved from some other location by an earthquake. Is that a bottle of sake on the mountain top? lol

To be fair, you don't start from 0m when climbing - the bus stop is already at about 400 meters. That still leaves 1300 meters though, so the last 2/3rds of the trail is quite steep and challenging. But the forest is absolutely breathtaking, yes! A sign said that the biggest cedars are about 800~1000 years old =O

Mt. Ichifusa is one of the sources of the Kuma river, the water from which is used to produce Kuma Shochu. So I guess it makes sense that people would bring bottles of that sake up to the mountain god as an offering.
