Inasmuch as one is forced to deal in a civil manner with such people as a function of professional or quasi-professional activities, yes. Inasmuch as "choosing one's friends", no.

Oh wait, I'm supposed to be one of those intolerant closed-minded people, based on who I'm voting for on Tuesday [/snark].

Well, I don't think people stick that closely to their ideologies when it comes to tolerating intolerance. So you'd probably be closer by saying that most people who identify themselves as tolerant are intolerant of intolerance.

We should always try to be tolerant of each other. But as Yoda says, "Do or do not, there is no try". So then, that would mean that I've failed.

But then, there is a big difference between being civil to strangers or co-workers and having people you'd consider to be friends cross over the intolerance line again and again. I guess that friendship is really doing either her or me any good at this point and its best I just walk away 'eh!
