I wound up playing Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Genesis version) again recently. I once again asked myself why I was ever into Mortal Kombat as heavily as I was back then.

Somehow, the special effects seem even more underwhelming than they did when it was new, and I remember finding them pretty laughable at the time.

I find myself wondering this exact same thing, from time to time ^^; especially Ultimate MK3 >_>; I don't know why, but despite the higher load of "content", it just seemed so much cheesier than the first three games.

Near as I can figure, despite how underwhelming it was, I think it kinda combined Street Fighter with eastern Asian martial flicks >_>; and it seemed sort of unique, and the melodramatic brutality seemed kind of new of fun, at the time.

I also blame the fact that my friend were into it haha

...sadly, I can't stand it long enough to really re-visit the issue, anymore.

But yeah, it's pretty wtf
