Duck's leaning forward against the kitchen counter, hands framing the coffee maker as it drips with a slowness that would be maddening to anyone but a man with Duck's patience. "Bread," said Geoffrey triumphantly, holding it up without looking at him. "I don't suppose there were any eggs left in the fridge, by any chance? We could do an omelet. And toast."

"Mushrooms," says Geoffrey, emerging from the pantry and resting his hand on Duck's hip as he looks over his shoulder into the fridge, "but I'm not sure I would trust any we found on the island. Are there any green onions? Do we even have any green onions here?"
