Useless things must not exist.

Why Hi, have a VERY unhappy Giovanni at your doorstep breaks_ground May 3 2010, 10:50:11 UTC
[It had taken a bit to track down WHERE Cyrus lived, but track him down Giovanni did, and he marched over to the Ethics teacher's doorstep. Nidoking followed him as protection, growling as he sensed his trainer's rage. Giovanni could barely keep himself from shaking from it. How the hell could this man say such things to a student when it was obvious that she was in pain? Maybe it was only obvious to him because he had been at that point before, but... He took a deep breath standing before the threshold, and rapped on the door.]

Another interruption. Cyrus opened the door a small bit, and immediately tried to slam it shut.

Oh no, you don't!
Unfortunately for him, Giovanni had already figured this might happen, and slammed his shoulder into the door, forcing it open. It hurt, but it wasn't going to be near what Cyrus might feel, depending on things. The door flung back open, doorknob smacking into the guard on wall, and in a second, both Pokemon and trainer were in the apartment doorway, Nidoking blocking the opening. Before Cyrus could react further, Giovanni punched him across the face. "WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GET OFF TALKING TO A STUDENT LIKE THAT?!" He yelled as the punch connected.

Well. That was enough to send Cyrus crashing gracelessly to the floor. He floundered for a moment, making sure his jaw wasn't broken, before rising. "It may be fractured," he said aloud although he wasn't talking to his visitor. "I will have to see the school doctor."

Then he made eye contact with Giovanni. "I will thank you not to shout. It is quite late and those in the adjoining apartments are asleep. This is a private matter and ought to remain such."

"No, you will stay here or I will punch you again, and harder this time, and I didn't hit you hard enough to break it. Don't make me do so." Giovanni growled, only lowering his voice to increase its effectiveness in close quarters. "Did you not notice what she was saying, Cyrus?! HOW she said it, to be more precise? She was not in her right mind, was possibly suicidal, and you egged her on! Good lord in heaven, it was obvious too! What gives you the right to push her further like you did?!" His muscles were tensed completely up, and Nidoking growled behind him.

The least the man could do would be to close the door, but Cyrus figured that a request would only make him start shouting again. He would address the words then. "I did not intend to go anywhere at this moment." His voice was entirely flat now. "I must be certain that it is the case and I will not know immediately. Regarding your second point, then so be it. Those who doubt so strongly their own existances are failures. Failures ought not to exist. They only take up valuable resources."

[Congratulations Cyrus, he's angrishing. The fact you got him to that point is rather commendable. Your prize will be in the next part of the comment]

[And your prize is another punch that you will be feeling for a few days]

This time, the punch was angled so that it missed the jaw entirely, and, while not doing real damage, it would still hurt like hell. This time, however, he stood over Cyrus, and spoke with deadly calm, somehow, despite the absolute anger coursing through his veins. "How dare you think you have the right to tell anyone they should die, especially by their own hand. You spoke recently of wanting to rid the world of such violence and pain, and now you speak of wanting others to embrace it? You're the worst kind of hypocrite, the kind that sends others to their demise while staying safe in your arrogance and self-righteousness and sanctimoniousness atop what you believe to be the moral high ground. For someone who teaches ethics, yours are sorely lacking when it comes to dealing with others, Mr. Cyrus ( ... )

It wasn't easily heard by Cyrus, who had been thrown backward against his computer chair and was fumbling around on the ground. His bearings were more important than anything Giovanni had to say, and determining the extent of the damage to the side of his skull, to his ear, was more important still.

But he still heard it, faintly, like overhearing a telephone conversation through a thin wall.

"...no...not to embrace violence...simply to do what is necessary. That...nngh..." He winced heavily, biting back a curse as his ear started ringing. "Aahh...not violence...and I am not..." The ringing was getting worse. "...Put myself in danger constantly...stood before the gods alone and..."

His grip on the chair gave way and he tumbled back to the floor, back tightning him into a ball. "There is no one else who can do it!" he screamed, pain and insistance on getting it out driving the force of the words.

As Cyrus started babbling about whatever, Giovanni motioned for Sergio to close the door. It'd gotten past where he figured it would, and he didn't want anyone overhearing any more than they might have. "What on God's green earth are you going on about..." He muttered, listening to the man go on. He scowled at a few of things he said. "Nothing is necessary enough to be so completely merciless about a student's mental well-being that you tell me they shouldn't live. And what is this about standing before 'gods' and putting yourself in danger? Hmph. You seem like a coward to me with your current actions."

When the other man ended up back on the floor, Giovanni stooped down near him, though out of range of both kicking and punches. He raised an eyebrow at what the man screamed. "Now who's the loud one... No one else can do what? Tell me a student can die? Be a pompous imbecile? I'm sure others can do such things. I know I didn't do that much damage to make you go insane. Doubt I did anything past a bit of ear damage, really."

Focusing all his strength and capacity, Cyrus managed to get to his feet, although he had to brace himself off the computer desk to do so. "Y-you have no right to be here. You have...no right to be anywhere." Another tight breath and he covered his ear again, face contorting into a wince. "...I will face you, no matter what you do to me. I will stand firm in m...my words, in my--nngh!" Another heavy wince "--actions, if not my feet..."

Keeping his hand pressed against his ear was starting to hurt. His ear canal stung with the changed pressure, but yet he wouldn't move his hang away. "T-there is nothing cowardly about me." And he was fully aware that his pain-forced stutter presented otherwise, albiet falsly. "You are the one a-acting out of violence, out--nngh!--of terrible, wa-steful emotion..."

It was taking all of Cyrus's focus to speak, but he had to finish. "...what I do is f-for the greater good. We cannot be hindered by th-ose who have no wish t-to continue."

Giovanni sprung up before Cyrus could get to his feet, muscles tensed. Sergio growled quietly, and his trainer raised a hand. "No, Sergio...this is our fight now. If it gets too bad, and it won't, you may intervene." He said in Italian to the Pokemon.
But as Cyrus spoke, Giovanni smirked. "I have no right to be here or anywhere? YOU have no right to threaten a student...ever. I believe such is a much greater wrong than being where I shouldn't and confronting you on such."
And when Cyrus said he would confront him with actions and words...
He laughed.
It was a deep, mocking sound, filled with genuine amusement at such an idea. "Your actions prove nothing, because you hide behind flowery speech, doing nothing! And what care do I have for your words, Cyrus? They're as empty as you are ( ... )

The timbre of that laugh vibrated painfully, but Cyrus steadied himself by the time Giovanni was finished speaking. "I did not threaten her. I simply advised her. Willpower and intelligence are what ought to drive us, but a creature who is only a conduit for emotion knows the true cost of permitting such terrible things to exist. It's a small wonder she did not take this action years ago ( ... )

"Funny, in many places, advising or assisting in a suicide is an act of murder..." A creature... "and what in God's name are you going on about, Cyrus...a creature who is only a conduit for emotion. What manner of 'creature' is she?" The answer dawned on him almost as he said this. "...A Pokemon?...Nevertheless," he continued (he'd deal with that thought later) she is a living, breathing, thinking being, and as such, should not be cast aside as you suggest ( ... )

"The final act would not be my own. All that depends on her." But from all that talking, from that voice resonating, Cyrus was starting to develop a headache. "All creatures who depend on their emotions are crippled beings, but Gardevoir derive their very power from it. How wasteful!" It was starting to get worse ( ... )

But as soon as the words were out, breath came back in sharply. His entire left ear canal burned and he let out a gasp as he grabbed his head tightly, fingers clawing at his own scalp and palm fixed over his ear.
