First, an amusing (at least to me) observation: I remember when Jordache and Sasson were the must-have jeans I couldn't afford. Now they're sixteen bucks at Walmart, and a single pair of 6-long Levis is the Holy razzmfrazzm Grail

*grin* I couldn't afford Jordache, but I'd scored Sassons on sale and my dad was wholesaling Calvin Klein. I was totally in for jeans, but the rest of my wardrobe came from deep sales or kmart.
I still head for the clearance rack first. The cheapskateness is too ingrained. :-)
I made a conscious decision a while back to make one or two purchases a year in the $100-$150 range, of something really key. I haven't regretted any of those, but for everything else, it's a very good thing I have a black belt in thrift-store fu.
LOL...talking about Phantom of the Opera, I completely wore out my cassette tape version I bought in High School....man, soundtracks on cassette tapes!
I was such a geek in junion high/high school, I would put a tape player to the speaker (singular!) on the TV and tape off the music from the end credits of my fav films! And there were times, I would camp out at the TV to get the music because we didn't own a VCR yet! That and taping off TV episodes...ON CASSETTE TAPES! so I could listen to them again later...again, before we had a VCR!
hmm....Kohls sells the Seven7 brand as well, if I remember correctly [though only in Juniors, so maybe not]. This isn't really the time of year to find jeans at Kohl's though, I'm afraid. While they're there [Levis included, though I can't say for sure if we have longs or not], it's predominately capris right now. [the summer stinks for finding regular length pants, and I really don't like capris much. LOL]
And while Kohls can have some Stuff Of Awesome on the clearance racks [as well as the....not so spectacular stuff....LOL], jeans rarely make an appearance. Which I guess is a good thing, 'cause when you're the one marking down the clearance, the jeans are the ones that are a pain in the butt to find. :P
And...wow, amazing. I wouldn't have remembered what *I* was listening to when FK was on the air. LOL Even if I still had the cassette tapes that I used to listen to back then.
Kohls was one of the four stores where I had no luck, but you're right, they were low on misses' jeans in general. I didn't see any Seven 7s there, but maybe I should have looked in juniors after all.
I listen to certain things a LOT in phases, and the soundtrack gets associated with memories of what I was doing or what I was into during the same time. I neglected to mention Ofra Haza and Loreena McKennitt, though.
