Sounds of coming spring in the mountains...

Pseudacris Crucifer, or "Spring Peepers" frogs in the marshes behind Allegany College of Maryland. Spring comes late in the mountains, and we are anxious for it to really get going. That's just great, thanks for sharing it. I haven't heard them down here yet. At the house where I grew up, the frogs always started when the skunk cabbage started to come up down in the woods...right around daffodil time.

Your peepers are going already?!? We have had daffodils blooming for ten days here at 380 ft above sea level and no peepers yet. Of course, I tell everyone that the sure sign of spring here is when the neighbor's peacocks start screaming at dawn, which has been going on for a good two weeks.

Oh, how I miss that sound! We used to have a protected wetland behind my parent's old house and every spring and summer there'd be peepers, other frogs and birds. What great sounds and how I miss them in this condo in the middle of more condos. *sigh*
