well that's interesting about Buffalo Bill. It's always cool to find out stuff like that (My family hasn't been here long enough to have too many interesting run ins)
I've known for a long time that my great-grandfather had some interesting history (he was a roustabout with the Wild West Show), but my father was annoyingly closed-mouthed about EVERYTHING and it was like pulling teeth to get any details from him. I often wish he had told me more before he died, especially since everyone else who knew anything was already gone.
I wonder if there is any official records you could access in regards to the Wild West Show to learn more. It's a shame that you couldn't get more out of him. (same with my great grandparents about Italy)
Possibly. I've dug around some on Ancestry. Trouble is, he was a little shady (Dad thought he was a deserter, and had changed his name a few times), so some records are contradictory.
I have so many of my grandparents' photos (and slides!) to scan that it's been sort of intimidating... I've been really tempted to see if I can find a place that will do it for me, but to some extent, it's also nice to go through them myself and decide which ones are worth keeping. I should probably just add it to my Daily Taskboard to spend 15-20 minutes a day on it. It's amazing how quickly that sort of thing adds up.
