Am no longer in the "know"

Honest to God, I thought the kid's name was Justin BEAVER (which I blame on Craig Ferguson's accent... and my own complete and total lack of knowledge). I'd probably know better if I still watched Ellen, but they moved her an hour earlier and I have only so much space on the DVR.

I have no idea what Justin Beiber sings. I know he's supposedly the hottest thing evah yet in spite of listening to how ever many stations beaming in from three states here I have never heard him once. apparently we don't like him here in appalachia

Yup. The first place I ever heard the name was on Craig Ferguson, poking fun in his own estimable way; and I had no clue who he was talking about. I saw a picture, I think, and to my mind he looked like every other kid I went to high school with, so I don't get it.

On the other hand, I saw Yoshiki on the Evening News, and I could get behind American girls going nuts for him. He looks like an Anime character crossed with David Bowie.

Biggest rock star in Japan, apparently (part of the band X Japan). They'll be releasing their first American album sometime here this year, I believe.

I still only recognize the name of the Justin-child. Barely. ;-)

Hugs and a better Wednesday!

I saw a picture of someone I believe was actually him, but he looked so... ordinary I wasn't sure if it was right. (At least I figured my 12-year-old self would have ADORED the Jonas Brothers.)

Hugs!

I had been seeing his name in headlines for, oh, a couple months before I heard him mentioned by Mo Roca on Wait. Wait, Don't Tell Me and finally found out it is not pronounced to rhyme with Fritz Leiber (long i). So if I hadn't heard Mo pronounce it, I don't think I would have known what you were talking about here...

FWIW.

Yeah, but I usually pay attention to pointless and silly media matters (often even when I don't really mean to). Suddenly there was a Next Big Thing and I was left without a clue...

LOL! You're better off not knowing about Justin Bieber anyway. And maybe the wallpaper can only be sent to a smart phone? Because wouldn't you need an internet connection to get it?

Hee.

Well, it can certainly sign ON to the Internet (at some astronomical price per second), but the website specifically says "your item has been SENT to your phone." This leads me to believe that I would receive it as a file, not have to go looking for it. (I did sign on once to download some ring tones. I was on a few minutes and it cost a fortune, so I don't do that very often -- especially since Barb handles the cell phone bill and I feel guilty if I DO log on...)
