Shion hugs Satoko. She holds her tight, and promises never to let her go. She remembers her original promise to Satoshi, her older brother, to watch after Satoko if he ever disappeared... not only did she mean to keep that promise, but her genuine love for the girl made her want to do it out of her own will.

Shion stabs Satoko. Again, and again, and again. She tortures and kills her, over and over again, until all that's left is a pool of blood and her maniac laughter, echoing in the dark chambers of the Sonozaki manor, leaving her empty and hollow.

Satoko embraces Shion. She loves her brother's self-proclaimed love interest, she really does. She gives her comfort and a sense of belonging which she desperately needs; without it, she's lost. She calls her 'sister', and means every word of it.

Satoko murders Shion. She prepares a trap and the teenage girl with the emerald eyes falls right into it, into a pit where no one would find her, or hear her scream once she collides with the cold, hard ground that damages her spine, effectively cracking it. With her last breath, she pleads for help, but all she gets in response is the grin of a demon in Satoko's face.

Hanyuu watches it all happen, and nothing can be done about it. In a world, the two of them would love each other until the end; in another, they caused the end of the other. Hinamizawa was set on destroying them, all of them, and Shion and Satoko were just two of the victims.

It was sad, really, that all she could do now was watch. Because nobody could hear her apologies, carried forever away by the wind.
