Musing: general - Fickinks

May 09, 2008 10:20

Let's talk about fickinks! By which I mean, plots or situations in fics that never fail to interest you. Actually, there are some examples of mine in the actual text of some fandoms, which makes me happy. But I still call them fickinks. I've got some fandom specific ones and three or four main general ones (and then, under the cut, the actual sex- ( Read more... )

Wings. Mostly featherwings. Cliche angel type wings. Don't have to be white. Doesn't even have to be in smut. lkjdflqk. It's inexplicable.

We haven't done anything with wings in ages.

Bran with wings? How many kinds of pretty would that be?

I was thinking the same thing a while ago.

Could be black for contrast or white and dkmlfjqslmfpretty

Perhaps after we're done pushing my buttons with Mal and Simon, Bran-with-wings could be arranged?

Manipulation. This is why I like Light, Muraki, Lelouch, and some of the PW villains to death. They get what they want however they have to get. And at the same time, the people who end up tortured and manipulated - Seifer, Hisoka, poor Phoenix - are also adorable because seeing their innocence/cluelessness taken advantage of amuses me to no small extent ( ... )

If the nonsexual ones were to somehow be combined into this epic story of character development, I would be a pile of fanboy glee.

The interactive novel I'm playing right now, Animamundi, manages to have all of them because there are many different storylines and no character is what they first seem.

I don't write it, but I love reading fanfic. Although as I had guessed, I don't really know who the heck you're talking about 99% of the time! But I'm not really picky when it comes to fic as long as it's well-written (there is a LOT of badfic out there!)

Oh man, let's see.

Wings. Angel wings/bird wings, specifically. Bonus points for more than two wings on one person. This is why Angel Sanctuary kills me, because ungh so many pretty wings. Also why I love Rinny with wings and the fact that Ultimecia has wings to begin with ( ... )

Angst. I am such a sucker for beautiful suffering~ I mean, I'll read some really pretty terrible angst if I feel like it's something the character would legitimately drive themselves nuts over. Possibly I relate? And when I don't relate, then it's funny. And I love it. Angstangstangstangst~

And I love happy endings. I love when, after all that suffering, everyone lives happily ever after with two point five kids, a dog, and a white picket fence.

Alternately, really happy light fics with terrible endings (or which you know canon will fuck up, like Zack/Aeris fluff or Axel/Roxas being bff) makes me sob, but I can't stop reading it.

In sexfic I like characters who fumble and are kinda awkward. Awkward is awesome. For some reason 'real' details and stuff makes me happy. When everyone doesn't smell like vanilla and their mouths don't taste like strawberries and they don't always know what to do with their hands.

And I love writing everything I love reading. Works nicely that way.
