Prowl was everything he wasn’t. Prowl was his everything. His reason for coming back from every battle, no matter how damaged. He would always return to Prowl.
Prowl had been the one to see through the mask of indifference he wore. The one to see the depths hidden behind the sociopathic frontliner. The one to coax them back into the foreground.
Prowl was the reason he was painting again. Not much, just a few pieces here and there when inspiration struck. But it was more than he’d managed since the war broke out. Since he and Sideswipe found themselves fighting to stay alive in the Pits in Kaon. Since they’d joined the Autobots (though many said (and some still say) they should have joined the Decepticons).
Since he met Prowl.
Everything had changed. Things were getting better. Yes, there was still a war. Yes, there was still fighting and damage and paint scuffs to be taken care of. But he had someone to come back to. Someone more than Sideswipe. Someone who cared about him. And someone he cared about.
He had Prowl. His reason. His cure.
