TF: Rare-Pairing Halloween Trick ‘o Treat

Authors Notes: I had fun doing the prowlxjazz Anniversary Challenge, if no one else enjoyed reading them. So when tf_rare_pairing announced their October challenge, I thought I might try something similar. Though this is going to be different as I have to write on a daily basis again. But that was fun when I did it before ( both times). So yeah… wish the ever-more-eccentric one luck?

Ratchet squirmed on the berth, processor active even though he was in recharge. All the sparks he’d seen gutter, all the mechs he’d lost, they were all there in his dreams. In his nightmares. He cried out as they reached for him, intent on making him theirs. Set on punishing him for failing them.
“Ahhh…” He sat bolt upright, online and panting heavily.
“Ratchet?” Prowl murmured sleepily.
“It’s fine, go back into recharge.” Ratchet answered, but his voice didn’t sound steady. Prowl sat up.
“What’s wrong?”
“Bad dreams.” Ratchet gave a small shrug. His dreams were always worse after a battle; the hideous monsters his processor conjured up all the more vicious. Prowl nodded in sympathy. They’d talked about this before, the first time Ratchet had dreamt about the mechs he hadn’t saved.
“Do you want to…”
“No, I don’t want to talk about it, Prowl.” Ratchet snapped, rubbing a hand across his optics. “Thanks, but no.” He added softly, swinging his legs over the edge of their berth. “I think I’ll just sit and read or something.”
“All right.” Prowl nodded slowly. “You know I’m here if you need me.” He reiterated.
“Thanks Prowl.” Ratchet got up, ambling out to the main room of their quarters where he could read without disturbing Prowl.
