Dec 28, 2006 13:56

I would have done this in a few days anyway but taking a cue from dukewhite, here are the annual year-end stats:

35 books )

books, music, lists, movies

Did you like your pressies OK? :-)

Also: is Shopgirl any good? I thought it seemed pretty interesting, but I'm hesitant to go around taking chances on Steve Martin these days.

I loved my pressies! Thank you so much - you two were far too generous. I've been listening to them this week and started the book last night. It was perfect - just the sort I really enjoy reading. I'm really touch by your thoughtfulness. I've got another little package in the works for you along with a thank you note proper. Are there any CDs you might be wanting as long as I'm at it?

I'd previously read Shopgirl and the movie followed the book very well. I really enjoyed it as a character study and exploration of the meaning of "love". It might be considered a "chick flick" but Bruce liked it as well without having read the book first.

Did your package arrive okay?

Aw, you're very welcome. :-) Your package hadn't arrived when I commented, but it has now - thanks very much. :-) Joss says she likes the socks very much, and the Bright Eyes album was one we didn't have, so hurrah! :-D

As for any CDs we might be wanting - there is actually one favour you could do me, if you're so inclined. Do you still have the Halloween compilation I made you the year before last? With all the hip-hop and the horror movie samples and what-not? Just I never burned myself a hard copy of that one, being as I had it saved on the laptop - and we ended up selling that laptop to Joss's parents rather than worry about electric convertors, etc. If you still have it, I'd love to have a copy of that - as it would be pretty impossible to recreate. :-)

I also wouldn't say no to a copy of that Rabbit Fur Coat you once offered, if that still stands. :-)

No-problemo. I do still have that and I'll try to get it out this week. Happy New Year!

Post Office! Like? I got some more Bukowski for Christmas. It was delightful.

Speaking of! Thank you terribly much for the Christmas package. I rather wish yer present weren't on the floor of my closet, but, um, Christmas in January! Yeah!

That's okay, I was similarly late getting some packages out myself. Post Office was ... strange, interesting and funny. I don't know that I'll venture into reading more of his work but I did enjoy that one. Did I ever mention that I have an hour long spoken word CD of his? If I haven't already passed it along, let me know for future reference.

You did send that to me. My birthday, I think, if not just randomly. Either way, it is delightful.

I got some more of his stuff for Christmas. Currently reading Women, which I'm pretty sure is just like Post Office, except now he's unemployed rather than working for the Post Office. I can see where people would think a little Bukowski would go a long way, though I rather like him.

List Girl! I love your lists -- I keep a reading list, but ought to branch out into music as well. New Year's as good a time to start as any. Reference "Girl of 100 Lists" by the Go-go's ...

I'm trying the blog thing again myself ... sent you a link separately.

I hope the new year brings the realization of *your* full potential -- you are an amazing woman and deserve all that you hope for...

Happy New Year!

I was thinking to email you tonight but you beat me to the punch. I'm glad you're blogging again as it's a good way to keep in touch and I really do enjoy your writing.

Thank you and Happy New Year to you, too!

I know you've got big plans this month and hope that goes well. Maybe we can talk soon.
