This morning we got up early and put in our three hours walking dogs at the humane society. Given it was the first time for me since adopting Muddy, it felt different. No longer was I looking at each dog wondering "Could this be the one?" but instead was there to do a job to the best of my ability. Dogs of all shapes and sizes were walked as " ( Read more... )

That's too bad that she didn't give you a more clearer estimate of who Muddy is.

A few years ago we took Cookie to a pet psychic that had a room at one of the Humane Society events. She said that Cookie was being trained to be a hunting dog, but they didn't train her well and so it didn't work out. I don't know how true that is, but it does give me an idea why she's not very good at retrieving, even though she's a Golden RETRIEVER.

She's more of a Golden I'll GET WHAT I FEEL LIKE GETTING AND KEEP IT TO MYSELF-ER.

I would have been happy even if she had said something like "Yeah, Muddy could be a Carolina Dog". Oh well, I tried.

They had the pet psychic at the recent Cause for Paws event but I didn't participate - now I wish I would have just out of curiousity. Did you go to the dog park and how was it?
