A few years ago (six to be exact), I read and enjoyed Pack of Two by Caroline Knapp. I recently found out that she died of lung cancer in 2002 at the age of 42. I'm currently reading a collection of her essays published posthumously.

normally I am kind of phone-phobic and feel awkward, but I had such a long phone-gab last night and that was a great quote to find today. :)it's so true.

I noticed it seemed to apply to your recent post, too. :) While some of her work is lighthearted about dogs and friendship, other essays delve into the more difficult topics of loss, grief and addiction. It's one of the better and more meaningful things I've read in a while.
