Hehe, Kathi (keeperofthecats's mom's friend) has a son or a son-in-law who works for a fireworks warehouse, and they live in the country with no neighbors and no police (because fireworks may technically be illegal in the state; not that I'm saying they are, because of course we wouldn't do anything illegal, unless it was really really fun). So it was a celebration of, "guess what, these fireworks didn't sell and they won't be so much viable next year."
In other words, a celebration of blowing stuff up. AWE...SOME...AWESOME. And that's what Independence Day is all about. Well, that and beer. And there was beer there too! Because fireworks and beer go together like hospital emergency room trips and stitches.
