This is the best. I love Ennis's inner thought about his hidden ability to love. Love how he's so shy when he thought about that feeling that makes him feel butterfly flattering in the pot of his stomach. Your words are powerful, and beautiful at the same time. I adore your writing!
Oh, like others, penicillins now, boys!
Thanks for this :)

Gorgeous, as always. I dont know how you do it, but your story just outstands me, the writing is utterly beautiful in its starkness, their difficult relationship always a revelation in your hands....I could read this forever. I hope the sores can be cured, as Jack suggests....dont't want anything bad happening to these two, not after everything they've been through.

I got kind of frightened at the beginning, when Ennis became ill, but then when Jack when Jack got it too, and knew what to do about it, I was relieved. At least they didn't have AIDS. Thank goodness. I hope they get to the doctors soon. I do love that it didn't affect their sex life though. ; )
Great chapter. I'm looking forward to your next update. : )

Cool. Not cool about the VD problem, but I liked this chapter. The relationship and sex is all-guy, not a whiff of damsel in distress here! *g*

Do Americans use the word shag? I've never heard it used anywhere but in Austin Powers movies. I think it's a Brit word.

I would sound like a broken record if I keep repeating how much I love this fic and how gorgeous I think your writing is.

So I'll make this quick :)

Two points I love so much in this chapter:

1. Ennis finally "consciously" realises the hurt he has inflicted on people around him. Alma, Cassie.. and especially Jack. That he has a glimpse the kind of state that he has driven Jack into in all those fishing trip years.

2. Jack being so understanding (after the initial anger/hurt/shock) over the Pox incident. And being so-Jack at the end to comfort and offer solution to both of them.

Ennis's progression has its price and it's been a painful and heartbreaking journey but you made it so believable and moving... just loved it.
