Two boys arrested for spanking and groping of girls.

The district attorney has come under fire for prosecuting these boys for their 'boys will be boys' behaviour.

Berry said he, too, was inundated with calls and e-mails from readers who complained that charging the boys with 10 counts of sex abuse and harassment was an overreaction, as their ( Read more... )

I support the DA in prosecuting the boys in question, but I'm curious.

Would you still support the DA with the same degree of conviction if the girls in question had been boys? If it was boy on boy "action", so to speak?

I do think they should be tried and if they did spank and grope them, they should be convicted. But I feel that they may be a bit young to be registered as sexual offenders. The mark of sexual offense is worse in our society than "mentally ill," and at their age with just this one accusation we do not have enough evidence that they are truly mentally ill in that way. What they did is horrible, but it happens every day between middle school boys in the locker room and is almost never brought to court.

Heck, playground games in elementary school promote similar behavior, what with Wednesday Wedding Day and Friday Flip-up Day, and in that respect girls are just as predatory as boys at that age, spraying their perfume at others and threatening kisses. There's a problem with saying sexual offenders are mentally ill. There was a study done comparing sexual offenders with non-sexual offenders and there is no difference mentally. It's just because they see women and children as sex objects, not really human.

And yes I would support it if they were groping and spanking boys. That too is sexual assault and should not be condoned.

I have never heard about any of those playground 'games' and find it very disturbing.

Oh I also wanted to say that they should be labeled as sexual offenders because they committed a multiple of sexual assaults.
