Pretty neat guide! I believe a couple corrections are needed:

* Sonic the Hedgehog was first released in 1991, though the console came out in 1989.
* While you can say the World Wide Web was born in 1991, keep in mind it had nothing to do with newsgroups and MUCKs, which are based on protocols other than HTTP.

* Whoa, several THOUSAND fursuit and con videos in just a few months! I don't want to argue with that, but I do want to see links. All of them. XD

Ok I'll correct those.

The Yerf Chronology lists alt.furry as starting around 1990.

And I couldn't remember when Sonic was released, I'll move that into 1990-95.

And I may be over-exaggerating on how many Furry videos were originally posted on YouTube, but it did catch on with the fandom fast.

I don't disagree with when the newsgroup started. I just don't think the web helped it significantly. The internet wasn't really web-centric until later (like 1995-1999 when you mention personal web pages.) Not that I know first-hand though. I didn't know anything about the internet or the web til 95 or 96.

Ooh, also, something about IRC would be cool to throw in there...like whenever Yiffnet was formed...

I found this pamphlet at C-ACE a few years ago, and I've also seen it at other cons.

http://www.quasiskunk.org/ff2.tif

Its a tri-fold, and I couldn't get it on the webpage any other way. And I scanned it in a long time ago, sorry for the awkward file format ;P

This is prolly the best piece of printed material on the fandom I've ever seen. I use it all the time at work and other places to better explain what its about, if the person wants more than the usual "Sci-Fi" explanation.

I've asked at the cons I've seen it at, but no one has ever accepted responsibility for it ;)

Scary. I discovered furry and TapestriesMUCK with my first computer in 1995 (Packard Bell with 600 meg HD, 4 megs of RAM, and a 14.4K modem, which I still have an it still works)

I wish I had found out about the fandom back in the 90's.

Thats better than the PC I had in 95. Mine was running Win 3.1 on a AMD DX-4-100, with (I think) a 540 mb Western Digial hard drive, 64mb of ram, 10X CD-Rom and a 33.3 baud modem.
