i enjoyed this - i've been fascinated by Mr Universe and Lenore myself in the past so i'm interested in anyone's take on them.
My conception of Mal is very different from yours - but you write the character so well, i'm willing to suspend disbelief when the 'verse feeling is this authentic.

Finally got round to reading this chapter....you know I love this fic! And now you've added Mr Universe to the mix, I love it even more. The prospect of reading the 'job' Mal & crew will have to go on, as well as still wondering what terrors Simon will be enduring he awaits his rescue....meh...this fic owns my reading soul so much! I find myself having to resist the urge to go and read all 18 chapters again (only because I haven't the time at present or I'd be jumping to chapter one in a heartbeat).
Great chapter, keep up the fantastic awesomeness of this story. I don't think I'll ever stop gushing over your amazing ability to keep the ff fandom alive for me xx
