This morning after I was dragged out of bed around 10 to meet my mother at the laundromat..
Mum: [referring to my currently less-than-perfect skin, particularly the area around my nose] Why are they so big?
Me: Well...that's why I wear cover-up.
Mum: Wear a mask.

It was foggy when I woke up this morning as it usually is in my part of the city, so I bundled up in sweater and écharpe for the antique fair in Alameda. It was only my 2nd time there. Reassimilation and its discontents
I've been stateside for almost a month now. It's been easier than I thought..."readjusting"...but I get my moments of misery sporadically throughout each day.
