Well, after all, Sherlock did agree to do a favour for Mycroft in 202, right? So of course there was a whole lot of it set up. And the bit about him being sad... He knew this was going to happen, Sherlock did. Maybe not the specifics, but the general idea. I refuse to believe Mycroft fucked up the way he implied he did, because hello, MYCROFT. It's simply not possible.
