I find attractive men kissing attractive men as much of a turn on as I find attractive women kissing attractive women and attractibe women/men kissing attractive women/men.

I'm just big on aesthetic pleasure sometimes, regardless of the participants.

I can understand that, I can find such things pleasing to the eye.

I'm not opposed to women appreciating two male forms in that way, though I find the idea of creating a Vampirefreaks profile and then having multiple pictures of men kissing on it to be a bit... erm, vulgar. I guess what annoys me mostly is how negative culture is about men 'objectifying' lesbians and how it doesn't seem to have any negative feedback when girls do the exact same thing.

Ideally I think it shouldn't really be taboo for eithier.

Speaking of men kissing men, I don't see how anyone straight+female could be aroused by reading/writing slash-fiction.

Perhaps the 'gay-best-friend' caricature off US TV shows has got commodified..

I'm a mostly straight female and I find two men kissing hot. Oh and I read slash fiction. Regularly. With joy. *shrugs* Who knows why? Many, many thousands of women must have their reasons.

I’m very much beginning to believe it possible that one day we’re see a state of things were women will watch gay porn to the same extent that men watch lesbian porn (I’ve known women that do find gay porn to be arousing)
But isn’t this all objectification on the behalf of women? Isn’t it just as bad?

So what if that did happen? I thought you were for equality between genders? Guys have been perving over two or more women together for a very long time, it's not going to go away any time soon. Maybe some women are just enjoying the freedom to express the fact that they enjoy the reverse.

Porn isn't really my thing but who's to say that other women can't enjoy gay porn? It's their choice and doesn't really hurt anyone. Sure, it must be annoying for gay guys to have women objectifying them but gay women have to cope with that too you know. Hey at least it's not complete homophobia.

Maybe some women are just enjoying the freedom to express the fact that they enjoy the reverse. That in itself isn't a problem. There are only two things that I worry about here, firstly the appearence of double standards here, and secondly the same extended problems with too much objectification that have plagued women for so long (and that such men have been rightly attacked for) being subjected to by men. The situation of hetrosexuals bothering homosexuals of the other gender because they think it's 'hot' is something that's to be disliked regardless of gender, but it does seem much more acceptable for women to do rather than men at the moment ( ... )

Men that chase and hang about with lesbians for thinking they're hot would quickly get identified as creeps and idiots, it just seems that something similar ought to be true for thier female equivelents.

They do. I'm sure women who hang around with gay men purely to get off on the fact that there are two men who touch also get similarly branded by the men who have to put up with them. It doesn't really seem to be about it being 'acceptable' or not in the general view.

When I started reading slash fic (about 7 years ago), there is no way I would have mentioned it to anyone let alone have people recognise what the hell I was talking about. Now it's pretty common. I think female sexuality is going through a bit of a mini-revolution is all, women who do appreciate the idea of two guys together feeling free to speak out.

The guys that it happens to certainly don't think much of it, which isn't surprising. But I think the general consensus on the issue is important, which is why I felt the need to make a post attacking the 'acceptability' of such things.

I do think as time goes on and people adapt and more is accepted that gender roles and they way they act becomes far less differentiated. I do still think that there are underlying differences in the sexes, which is what makes most seek 'their other half'. I confess to love gay men, I find men kissing attractive and generally like gay men as they are 'safe'. But as said above seeing any two attractive people kissing is just as appealing. I am a very aesthetic based person, and I enjoy looking at attractive people or 'perving' for want of a better word. In fact often more than my male friends ;)
