Ever so very very very long ago I promised Sofia meta along the lines of "Smallville is awesome! HERE IS WHY" and all that and so I said I'd talk about Smallville as an expansive mythology or whatever and how it's all about the possibilty and stuff. This is that! Or at least what I managed of it, because dear lord do I ramble and it was getting ( Read more... )

****Matthew 27:46. All of my bibles have this as “My God, My God…” but, I learned it originally as “My father,” and so that’s what we’re going with here. Though, probably the “My God, My God” one is more correct. Four of Four bibles cannot be wrong! OR SOMETHING.

I think it's one of those translation issues. I learned it as "My father," and I prefer that interpretation. It's, what, eloi eloi...? And that's father, right?

Also? You had me at expansive source. When I'm able to think, I'm coming back to read again.

I lose at languages and googling tells me that "Eloi" (which is apparently what some sources say is the Aramaic thing of the passage) means "My God". But there are more translations of the Bible than there are like churches so you know yeah and "My Father" is how I learned to too. WHATEVER, PEOPLE.

I wanted to go "My teen Superman show is sparkly!" but I didn't think it would be quite as convincing or whatever.

...wow. Yes, okay ::pushes up Smallville to top of Netflix list:: Thanks for this post. Reminded me why I liked the show originally and makes me feel evil for just stopping watching it (I think another show aired at the same timeslot and me? I'm evil and drop things when I can't manage taping two things. Argh.) I've been watching some old repeats of it lately on the weekends and naturally now I want to check it out again. The last time I really watched it was the S3 premiere. Gahh. But I can catch up eventually. ;)

Plus, it's a strange thing to think of Michael Rosenbaum as the Flash more than Lex Luthor. ::headdesk:: Justice League, you cracktastic cartoon you.

Oh man, season three is for serious my favorite season of the series (it and season five being its strongest two seasons overall, I think). For sure the show has its problems, but man I think it really can/does work especially with the above. Though I do think the Lois and Lois/Clark anvils may drive you a bit crazy? Because yeaaaah. But still sparkly IMO :)
