Pet food donations

I was thinking about how many people are abandoning their pets lately with the bad economy. People can't afford to feed fluffy or fido so they leave their house behind with their pets left inside to starve. Are they crazy? Who would do that to a member of your own family?! I just can't fathom this, but I can understand that these are tough times,
