Why?
So I know I have self esteem issues, and I'm trying to deal with them, but they are really starting to get in the way. It seems whenever I find someone that I like, everyone else seems to start liking them and they sweep in and start flirting with them. At this point I back down because I know all of these people are so much better than me.

Take small steps. You know what you are good at. Build from that. (I know, easier said than done). Be friends first. Small steps. It's tough out there for everyone. You know, even the pretty ones are insecure. Hard to imagine, but I'm told it's true.
