Azula was six years old when she told her first lie.
It had been an accident. Mother had wanted to know if she had finished her lessons for the day. And Azula did not want her Mother to know that Zhao had taken her to the docks to watch the warships come in and then to the prison so she could see the prisoners of war put into their cages.
Mother found her back in the study hall and asked so sternly. “Did you finish your lessons?”
“Yes, Mother.”
Ursa seemed satisfied and did not question her again.
