Okay.  I live in Lakewood.  Lakewood = the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  We get storms, for sure.  But I don't have to worry about tornadoes right?  Too hill!  Yeah.... That's what I thought too.

Over the last two weeks we have had storms every afternoon, like clockwork, rolling in at the same time.  They skip over Lakewood and go off to the ( Read more... )

In retrospect, yeah! Great story! At the time, I'd have given anything to not live it quite like that. *laughs* But the bonus is..even though Conor hates storms even -more- now, and he always asks about the tornadoes, none of them were seriously traumatized by the event. But, they took it very seriously and stayed in the tub, which is an anomoly in and of itself. My kids, listening to me?! *gasp!*

I certainly did not expect this when I moved from California. No tornadoes, no hurricanes, nothing there but occasional minor earthquakes. I move here and we get hit with all this weird shit, seriously? Damn.

Glad you guys are okay!

Tornadoes in Lakewood are -very- atypical. It's too hilly, and as you likely noticed, we never did actually get hit. But..better safe than sorry. I used to ask my boss at work why we had tornado procedures and she said "I have -never- seen one here, but it's always best to be prepared." Now, I understand why, and I'm thankful I grew up where I did in Missouri, and then in Texas, so I -know- what to do. >.
