Title: The Lurlinemas Party 5/?
Rating: R (but mildly so)
Pairing: Glinda/Elphaba
Summary: Glinda and Elphaba leave the party and head back to their room. Pure fluff.
Disclaimer: They're still not mine.
I'd like to have this series continue through their Winter Break... but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for what they should do during all of that free time. If anyone has any ideas/requests, let me know!
“You really shouldn’t have done that,” Elphaba said as they ran out the back door. Glinda was trying to pull her coat on as she ran, and she gave up completely when she saw a flurry of snowflakes in the air.
“Elphie! It’s snowing!”
“Damn.” Elphaba snatched the coat from the blonde’s shoulders, using it to shield herself from the snowflakes that would melt on contact and burn blisters onto her skin. “Come on, let’s go.”
“I can’t just walk through the first snow of the year,” Glinda replied, stepping out into the flurry and twirling around with her arms held out. She looked, Elphaba noted with a smile, like a child. Or some sort of holiday fairy. Lurline herself, perhaps, the green girl mused as she pictured Glinda in her Halloween costume again.
“Start walking, my pretty,” Elphaba insisted, stepping out into the snow and pulling Glinda’s coat tightly around her head so that only her eyes were exposed. “You’ll freeze to death.”
“You’re the one who came out in the cold without a coat, silly,” Glinda replied, following Elphaba anyway and swatting her on the arm. “If I freeze to death, it’s on your conscience.”
“I fail to see how you get to call me silly,” Elphaba laughed, taking in the dusting of snow on the blonde’s hair and the giddy smile on her face. “But we can’t have you freezing to death.” She opened her coat for just long enough to capture Glinda and pull into a tight embrace. “We’ll share.”
They walked together, Elphaba nearly tripping over Glinda on every step, making their way back towards the dorm. “Elphaba?” Glinda asked after a long pause. “Why did you say that I shouldn’t have kissed you?”
“I know that your intentions were good, my sweet, but I’m nothing worth saving. Everyone has always laughed at me, and they always will. But you… You didn’t have to bring yourself down to my level. Your life is never going to be the same again, Glinda.”
Glinda mulled this over for a second. No, nothing would ever be the same… But wouldn’t it be better, living in a world where she could be honest with herself and everyone around her? “From the moment I met you, my life was never going to be the same, Elphie,” she replied as they reached the door and stepped inside. Elphaba let go of her, removing the coat and shaking the light dusting of snow off of it. “Everything was just so, just the way I thought I wanted it… And then I got stuck with you as a roommate. You derailed my perfect life the moment you stepped into it.”
“I’m sorry.” Elphaba took Glinda’s hand gently, and they started up the stairs. “I never wanted to ruin anything for you… Sometimes I almost wish that we had never met, just for your sake.”
“Don’t you dare say that, Elphie,” Glinda replied firmly, stopping and turning to face the green girl. “My life had never been anywhere near perfect before I met you. As soon as I fell in love with you, I realized just how empty I had been without you. Tonight was the first time that I did something right, the first time in my entire life. I’ve been trying to ignore when people call you names and tease you, but I decided to take a stand. You’re a part of me, Elphaba, and that’s never going to change.”
“Never?” Elphaba’s eyes were strange, a mixture of hope and fear and love. Glinda reached up to gently caress her face.
“Never. I will never stop loving you.”
Elphaba felt as though her heart was going to burst… Glinda really didn’t regret what she had done. And Glinda loved her, and Glinda was never going to leave her for something or someone better, since such a thing was bound to come along. She let the coat slip through her fingers as she backed Glinda up against the wall of the stairwell, pinning the blonde’s hands above her head before she leaned in to kiss her.
“Oh, Elphie…” Glinda’s voice was dreamy, but her eyes revealed her sudden rush of lust. Elphaba’s lips trailed down to the girl’s pale neck, claiming it for her own… Now that everyone knew about them, she could kiss harder, unafraid to leave a mark on the blonde’s creamy skin. “Elphie…”
“I love you so much,” Elphaba whispered, her hands running up and down Glinda’s sides. “I want you right here, right now…”
Glinda blushed deeply. It was almost exactly like her fantasy of what tonight would be like… Except, of course, that Elphaba was the one in the gold dress. In her dream, however, her knees hadn’t gone weak like this, and she suddenly clutched Elphaba’s arms. “I can’t… I don’t think I can stay standing any longer.”
The green girl nodded, gathering Glinda up into her arms and leaving the coat on the stairs in her haste to get back to their room. She placed the blonde down onto her bed before hurrying to lock the door and, after a moment of thought on the matter, locking the door to Nanny and Nessa’s room, too. They were probably in and asleep for the night, so she was sure that they wouldn’t mind… She returned to Glinda, who was struggling to remove her dress.
“Elphie, can I ask you a favor?”
“Of course,” Elphaba replied, undoing the buttons on Glinda’s gown even faster than she had fastened them before the party.
“Would you mind at least taking off the dress, if nothing else? I know that you don’t like to be touched, but I…”
“Anything for you, my sweet,” Elphaba interrupted, slipping out of the gold gown while Glinda found her way out of the green one.
Glinda had seen Elphaba in only her undergarments before - they were roommates, after all - but she had never really stopped to look carefully, always glancing in another direction out of propriety. Tonight, however, she looked, really looked. So Elphaba did have curves, after all… Slight curves, but more than she ever hinted at. Glinda looked up at the green girl’s face, noting the slight blush and the fear in her eyes, the absolute hunger for approval. “You’re beautiful,” Glinda told her, taking her hands and pulling her down onto the bed.
Elphaba stiffened when Glinda’s hands touched her bare skin, but she tried the best she could to give in to the touch, to let herself enjoy the pleasure of it. “You’re just saying that,” she murmured as Glinda’s fingers danced over the flat expanse of her stomach.
“Yes, and meaning it.” Glinda’s fingers crept up to just below the green girl’s bra, and she paused. “Let me know if any of this is too much, okay?”
“Go ahead,” Elphaba replied, but Glinda couldn’t help noting that the look in her eyes was nothing short of terrified. The blonde kissed her reassuringly, keeping their faces close together as her hands slipped beneath the fabric.
“Try to relax, Elphie… I promise I won’t hurt you.” She stroked the soft green skin gently, almost surprised to have found a place that was soft and rounded on Elphaba’s otherwise angular body.
Elphaba took a deep breath and let herself lean against Glinda. “I’m trying, I promise.”
Glinda removed her hands, wrapping Elphaba up in an embrace instead. “It’s all right, Elphie… We’ll take it one step at a time.”
“Thank you.” Elphaba’s eyes were deeply grateful, and she was finally able to relax, pressing her lips lighting against Glinda’s. “I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“Oh, don’t you dare start that,” Elphaba replied, her eyes glowing mischievously as she rolled over and pinned Glinda to the bed. “You know I’ll win.”
“Is that so?”
“It’s very much so.” Elphaba suddenly reached to the nightstand and pulled a box from the top drawer. Glinda gasped once the green girl pressed it into her hand. A pink box, done up in green and gold ribbon… Why, this must be from Pepperlay’s in downtown Shiz, one of the most well-know jewelry stores outside of the Emerald City.
“Elphaba, I really can’t…”
“Open it.” Elphaba grinned down at her, reaching up to gently stroke one of her curls. “It’s yours, my sweet.”
“You can’t expect me to accept this, Elphie. It’s too much.”
“Nothing is too much for you. And, anyway, I hardly spend money at the rate you do. I can afford to splurge on you a little.”
“Elphaba…” How many times had Glinda been taught that one had to reject a gift like this? How many times had her mother snatched a Lurlinemas or birthday present out of her hands and insisted that it was too much, that the giver take it back? Propriety, Galinda, you must always follow the rules of propriety.
“Just open the damn box, Glinda, unless you’d rather have me open it for you.”
Glinda shut out her mother’s voice. Being with Elphaba as she had been for all these weeks hardly fit with Gillikinese rules of propriety. Why couldn’t she have the present she really wanted, just this once, after all of the porcelain dolls and gold necklaces that her mother had taken from her in the course of her life? “All right, I’ll open it. If my mother could see me now…”
“…She’d probably ask why a half-naked green girl was sitting on top of you.” Elphaba kissed Glinda gently. “Happy Lurlinemas, Glinda. Open your present.”
Glinda untied the ribbon eagerly, slipping the cover off of the box to reveal a silver ring with a tiny green gem set in the middle.
“I know it’s not as gorgeous as all of the other jewels you own…”
“I love it, you dolt. Shut up.” Glinda shifted under Elphaba in an attempt to sit up before handing the box back to the green girl. When Elphaba gave her a quizzical look, Glinda thrust out her hand. “Put it on me.”
“I’m not asking you to marry me or anything.”
“Too bad. I might have said yes.”
Elphaba removed the ring from the box, trying to conceal the way her hand was shaking as she gently slid it onto Glinda’s finger. As soon as it was on, she could see what a perfect choice it had been… Glinda hardly wore rings, mainly since her typically large and gaudy jewelry would be too big on her small hands. This ring, however, was just small enough for her, and Glinda’s smile showed that she had never been happier with any other gift.
“Oh, Elphie, it’s beautiful.”
“And it’s green. So you’ll never forget me.”
“I could never forget you.” She kissed Elphaba gratefully, lovingly, before pulling back to look at the ring again. “I don’t intend to have an opportunity to forget you. We’re going to be together forever.” She twisted her hand, watching the faint lamplight play off the green gem. “I’m so sorry.”
“For what?”
“For forgetting to buy you a gown for tonight. That was going to be your present… Not that it would have come close to measuring up to this ring. Now I don’t have anything for you…”
Elphaba took Glinda’s hands in hers, intertwining their fingers and feeling the cool silver band rub against her skin. “You don’t owe me anything.”
“But it’s Lurlinemas.”
“Well, I’ve never exactly celebrated Lurlinemas, so it’s not a big deal.” Elphaba smiled, leaning closer to the blonde and looking her in the eyes. “Anyway, tonight has been the best gift anyone has ever given me. You told the world that you’re in love with me, and you gave up so much just to protect me. I have you, Glinda, and there’s nothing more I could ever ask for.”
Glinda shook her head. “I’m taking you shopping tomorrow as soon as we wake up, and I’m buying you anything you want.”
“And probably lots of things that I don’t want.”
“That’s just because you have no sense of fashion.”
“Great taste in jewelry, though.”
Glinda nodded, and Elphaba climbed into bed next to her, pulling her close. “Agreed.”
“And I have a decent taste in blondes.”
“Only decent?”
Elphaba shrugged, kissing Glinda on the forehead. “I guess a little better than decent. Good night, Glinda.”
“You’re going to sleep now?” Glinda asked, pressing herself tighter against Elphaba.
“As much as I’d love to ravish you right now,” Elphaba replied with her usual sarcasm, making Glinda smile adoringly, “I have to save my strength if I’m going shopping with you.”
There was silence for a while, and Elphaba wondered whether Glinda had drifted off to sleep herself. Just as the green girl was about to fall asleep, however, she heard Glinda’s sleepy voice. “That’s just not fair, Elphie. You can’t make me choose between sex and shopping.”
