Digging the tunnel through the middle of the planet and dropping something through is a common differential equations problem. It's really unfair to make you do calculus and differential equations problems before learning the subjects in full.

It's a silly idea. Why would they make such stuff up anyways?
There was no calculus in it and no differential equations. Just some explanation, proving that the units of a constant 'G' was Nm2kg-2 and then some regular calculation. But the whole idea was just messy.
