A fun 18 minutes

Dec 24, 2005 18:17

In another one of my MSN escapades, I was chatting with this Arab guy whose personal message [beside the nickname] said, "Hezbollah". Ok, being the pro-Israel, political bastard that I am, I couldn't resist asking him why his personal message was so terrorist.

And this is what happened )

israel, palestine, politics, argument

Way to go, Danu! Nice job sticking it to dum-dum there! It's like I always say: suckaz gots ta know. You can tell how informed he truly was by his insistence that a country that was never a country was still that country. Made a lot of sense, huh? lol. Anyway, have fun on your trip, and keep belly dancing!

Lol. Most people don't know just one side of the story and don't care to look at the other. Though, this fellow was Lebanese and apparently had actually experienced war-planes flying over Lebanon. Hmm..

Even if that's the case, he still doesn't have much of an excuse to be so ignorant. I once met a Lebanese lady while buying something at Wal-Mart and I found out that she loves Israel and thinks that Jews are great. She is an Orthodox Christian, so maybe that is why she is more positive about Jews than this gentleman whom you spoke with.

Also, good job on pointing out that not all Arabs hate Israel. Some of the more well known ones include:
* Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi, Sheikh of the largest mosque in Rome and a right-wing Zionist.
* Walid Shoebat, a former Palestinian terrorist turned Zionist.
* Khalil Muhammad, a professor at Michigan State University who, like Sheikh Palazzi, insists that the Quran actually supports the idea of a Jewish state
* Most Israeli Druze, who often fight in the IDF
* and so much more!
There are others I could list, but I have to head to synagogue now, so we'll leave it at this, lol. Let us know how your trip goes! Nesiah tovah!

Wow, I actually googled two of them and I can't believe there's such people too. But then again, there are all kinds of people in this 6.5-billion strong world. Anything can happen.

Oh lord...Even though I am still deciding about the Israel/Palestine issue, this guy is really ignorant. I hate people who argue about something they know nothing about, and who just think things other people have told them. Am I making sense?
I support Aleks' view, he put it better than I could have.
Oh well..

Have the most fun you can on your trip!

Oh you totally make sense. There are an infinite number of such idiots on both sides, Jewish and Arab who have seen only and only one side of the coin and base all their hate and all their prejudice on that biased view. I've been through it too, I was very pro-Palestinian, and then after reading a few books, I was very pro-Israel. But neither side is innocent of anything. What is the truth is the truth and that's what we must pursue.

Re: Which comes first, ignorance or hate? wicked_danu December 24 2005, 19:09:41 UTC
'Hezbollah' is such a corny name, anyways. 'Hi, um, we're the "party" of God, but God's sort of not coming..'

I found another clip by the American Congress. It outlines some of the things that is taught in some Arab schools and madrassahs, but not all.

You can ignore the 'from hate to love' and the 'world of evil to a world of redemption' partts.

I love people that stick up for their bogus opinions with bogus history lessons. Note my sarcasm. Good job defending your opinions, even in the face of outright stupidity.

Oh, believe me, I know my sarcasm is easily visible. It's pointed out to me constantly.

I try to be as civil to the idiots and the ignorant as possible, but sometimes it's just so hard, especially when they're so pigheaded about it.
