As for Arabic being harder than Hebrew, maybe it's because they were teaching you the somewhat archaic and very complex Standard Arabic, as opposed to the simplified spoken dialects. Modern Hebrew has been simplified from Biblical Hebrew, so a lot of archaic elements have been thrown out. Plus, supposedly Arabic is an "archaic" Semitic language anyway, keeping a lot of things that other languages got rid of long ago.
I dunno. EVERYBODY complains about how hard Classical and Standard Arabic are!

In Arabic class, my teacher teaches me the simplified Emarati dialect that people speak around here. And whenever I use a particular word that I learnt in school, he tells me that it's not used in everyday language. Still, I find it harder than Hebrew.
One reason may be because I was ignoring Arabic for all of last year and diverting my attention to Hebrew... plus I have 50 Hebrew songs [I counted] as opposed to 6 Arabic songs on my Winamp playlist. Music really helped me learn that language.
