I finally re-did my titration today, after I had failed at a previous attempt.

I got my "concurrent" readings, which is to say that I got two consecutive measurements of the titre volume which are within 0.2 ml of each other.

But all this came at a price, of course:
  1. I was trying to get one my weighing bottles open and I cut my left index finger ( Read more... )

I told her. I'm really really really clumsy. And today was just not my day in the lab. I've never caused so much damage in such a short period of time.

Of course I love Chem.. this doesn't bring down my love for Chem. Nothing will. Unless I fail the subject, somehow.

Man, the teacher is great.

Geez Louise!! You weren't meant for science Sweet Baboo. Perhaps art is more up your alley...

Hey, now, don't say that! Art is fine, but I don't really understand much of it. Science is my thing... the calculations part at least.

I remember chem lab in high school...though I never had quite THAT many problems doing the experiments! XD

How does your school deal with Ramadan, by the way? Do they give the Muslim students any slack, or is it just the same as usual and if you're hungry just deal with it?

Maybe you weren't a big klutz like I am!

School has shorter days for Ramadan. Usually, school is from 7:45 to 1:15, but in Ramadan, it's 8:30 to 1:15. Muslim/fasting students can stay inside the air-conditioned library during the break, because it's hot outside - on usual days, this isn't allowed. The non-Muslim/non-fasting students can go outside and eat their lunch.
But nobody really gives a fuck. We're all outside in the break.

HOLY COW! You making so many mistakes in a CHEM lab is a big shock for me.
But then again, who am I to talk after I so wonderfully started my year in the lab by breaking a weighing bottle cover.
Woot.. I think I started a tradition.. yeah baby! Now let's wait and see if anyone else breaks anything.. :P

Hehe...don't worry bout it. Lots more ppl have broken bigger stuff. Take me for example; I broke a long thermometer in Sr 5. Mercury everywhereeee! :D

Well you tc.. cya tomorrow! Ciao babes.. xoxo

Now, it's not like I made mistakes in the practical.. they're just regular old clumsiness. Though, I did make a mistake in the experiment.. I titrated the alkali with the funnel still on the burette's top and then searched for my funnel like it was a lost earring.

I hope I don't break a thermometer!

Thanks!

Chem practicals may not be my thing right now, but I'm hoping I'll scrape through them without much difficulty. You just have to get used to the routine and then it's all pie.
