Damn, the Internet connection on my PC has failed. I'm updating from my parents' laptop. The keyboard is so ugly.

Anyways, for those of you who are keeping track, today's the Persian New Year, Nowroz [I guess it means 'new day' in Farsi] which always falls on March 21, the first day of spring and more importantly, my cousin Abeer's birthday ( Read more... )

walk, internet, park, best buddies, calculus

Yay, Happy New Year! :-D Are there a lot of Iranians in the UAE, seeing as you're right across the Persian Gulf from them?

Happy birthday to your cousin, and that's great about the walk!

Happy New Year to you too!
Yup, there are a lot of Iranians here, though they're just referred to as 'Iranees' for short. They're obviously looking for a better life :Þ and since a lot of them are pretty rich, they do have a good life here.
There's also the nearby Kish Island [under Iranian authority] to which there are several flights from the UAE every day.. since the UAE doesn't permit a visitor to renew his/her visa while staying in the country, they fly to Kish for and then return to the UAE as new visitors. Talk about wasting time and money!

Meh.. i shudve come tho.. but i wasnt sure bout how long it would take and more importantly, I wouldve been too tired after it to sit down to bio and math.

Ah, well, you'll be there for the next event, I'm sure :)

See, I'm a more calculation person than analysis, so I enjoy doing Math more than Physics, right? Chee, I'm such a nerd.

Happy New Year, Danu Wanu! I'm glad to hear that you went on that Down Syndrome walk. You are such a noble young man! And I have to say that one of the best parts about doing charitable work like that is the free t-shirts (I'm a t-shirt connoiseur, so I'm always happy to pick up a new one)! Keep up on your math work, too. Who knows, maybe one day you will be as nerdy as I am! Muhahaha!

Aleks the nerd.

Happy New Year!
See, if you can migrate to Dubai, we can go to all these charity walks and stuff like that. We'll get there first so we can ensure that we get free tees.

Hey do you know what a nerd is called in Hebrew? A ch'noon! Atah ch'noon gadol, achi!.

Is the Best Buddies system there similar to the one here, I wonder? I am in it here, and what we do is help small children or disabled young adults with their schoolwork, reading especially, and keep them company, you know, a friend. I am just wondering, because you say international, but maybe ours is an offshoot with the same name.

And my goodness! I complain about having to do just a little bit of math homework that comes along with economics. You are a good boy!

I'm sure it's the same thing.. and that's so great, we're both part of it! Hurrah! Isn't it so great being friends with challenged kids? They have that certain innocence to their actions and that really draws me to them.

Aw, you're a good girl :)
