What a fun, memorable and screaming-my-head-off-happy day. Wish I could go back in time and do it again.
At school, we played volleyball before leaving for Dreamland. While
trying to move the net and the steel/iron poles that hold it, one of
the poles fell on my head (yes, tilted and frikken fell on my head!).
Amazingly, nothing happened. It's intriguing how strong the human skull
is. I could've slipped into a coma there and then or could've lost some
memory. But none of that happened, thank God. I just felt pain and
nothing else, though I was scared outta my wits.
I guess it just goes to show how clumsy I am and it's another reason why I should be the President of the Clumsy Club.
We left for Dreamland around 0830 and on the way there, we sang songs,
drummed on the drums and listened to an imitation of Laloo Prasad Yadav
(an Indian politician) performed by Mukit. Mukit also sang a parody of
an Indian song, Dil Chahta Hai,
singing about Balochees (a South-East Asian race, considered to be
generally stupid and illiterate). It was so hilarious. Also, I argued
with my friend, Samir about female-lead prayer (I was supporting it)
after he called
Dr Amina Wadud a 'crazy woman'.
In the water park, we changed and showered and went straight to the
water slides. The first slide I slid down was a really fast one and was
a total blast. I don't remember the exact sequence of the slides I slid
down, but there were 3 or 4 slides which I really enjoyed. There was
one which was nicknamed 'The Flush' or 'The 8-feet thing', both for a
reason because sliding down the slide was like being flushed down a toilet
and falling into a reportedly 8-foot deep pool of (chlorinated) water.
There were 2 more, one was shaped like a purple wave and the other one
was a giant, pink obtuse angle.
In the wave pool, my friends dared me to go touch the rope at the deep
end of the wave pool, so that the siren would activate and start
hollering. I floated there on my float and then poked it once and then
twice. Twice the siren went off and pissed the lifeguard off. He told
me to go back to the shallow part. Kumayl (
kumayl) flipped me over and I fell into the water and down came my float on my head. Grrr..
Kumayl and I taught Abhishek (and some other guys who I don't know that
well) the basics of swimming. They knew absolutely nothing when they
came. Heck, they were afraid to dunk their heads in water. The slides
really helped in taking their fears away. By the time we left Abhishek
was able to swim underwater, at least.
We had lunch at a restaurant that served hummus (a Lebanese/Israeli
dish made with chickpeas and other stuff.. food from Heaven above),
which was weird because the restaurant was Indian and had posters of
Indian filmstars all over the place. The food was good and we ate like
there was no tomorrow.
Later, we walked around a bit and sat on some chairs, near the Lazy River. We clicked
some pictures and listened to music, talked, drank some soda... laziness.
When it was time to go home, the residents of Sharjah said their
goodbyes to the Dubai residents because the buses were gonna take them
separately. In the bus, I kept asking Rushdi if he wanted some Mentos,
which he's totally crazy about. He refused a few times but when there were
just 2 left in the packet, he grabbed it from my hand saying 'Oh, just
give it to me, man!' =D
I reached home at around 1800. Man.. what a day! I'm so gonna miss
having fun like this for another 3 months. But hey, I'm thankful that I
got to go for such a fun trip.
