See I watched the first episode before the Pilot movie...but after seeing the movie....I don't understand the change really....I think they said they did it because they wanted a younger cast...to get younger viewers....and I think it was because they wanted Mitchell to look less vampric and more normal to pass as "human".....and a prettier Anne.....new Mitchell gets better, gets chemistry with George...and a little with Anne....but see I'm more fond of George....I always have a sweet spot for the geeky one...so that's why I stick around...because I heart George.
I will agree with you on that one. I adored the original Anne in the movie and have only managed to make it halfway through the first episode before I turned it off.
I figure I will come back to it after I finish the Dead Like Me movie tonight.
From what I've heard, at least part of the reason behind the recasting was the availability of the actors. There was quite a bit of time between the pilot and the relaunch, and - when the pilot was filmed - they actually weren't planning on picking it up for a full run until everyone who watched it fell in love with it.
Of course, that's probably just the positive spin they're trying to put on it, but still... it is somewhat plausible.
