So as I'm sure you all know, luna_veritas is writing an awesome AU for the French Cathedral fantasy. I mentioned that I was happy about that because I had a similar idea floating around and just hadn't been able to develop it. Well, now of course, I'm inspired to, but I wanted to get other people's thoughts. So ( Read more... )

I think it goes without saying that we need you to write this story for us. Two versions are better than one as they say...(or as I say (more importantly)). Don't know if I can stand the torture of waiting for updates but .... I think I'll manage, especially as this story is French themed and seeing as I'm off to Paris myself next Monday..... hehe. Let the fun/torture begin.....

Thanks for your thoughts! I've already started writing it, and I'm thinking there's going to be more torture than fun...:D

I think you should go for it! Can't wait to read it, no matter whichever the result you choose!

I think you should write it.

But, yes, it does feel weird when someone else comes up with something along the same lines as what you had in mind. Even if you KNOW that it you just accidentally have the same plan or your story would be completely different, to me, it still feels like someone else's idea, because they posted it first....

ETA: I mean, "to me" as a writer, not if YOU would write the story. If you write it, I can see it as two different stories, but if I were to write it myself, I would feel like I'm pinching someone else's idea... Does that make any sense?

Yep, it makes sense. That's how I'm feeling about it too: even though I've been thinking about it, I didn't want to step on anyone's toes! Plus, I worry if other people would really want to read two stories with the same theme, even though the plots appear to be shaping up quite differently. Thanks for the feedback!
