Doctor Who 5x02 The Beast Below

I'm.... stunned. Literally stunned by "The Beast Below". Not since "Dalek" I think have we seen such great tension between the Doctor and companion as they stand on two sides of a moral quandry. I thought this would be an entertaining but "New Earth" / "Gridlock" type romp... I was so wrong. I just... can't even. Continuing under the cut for ( Read more... )

This episode made me think I died and went to DW heaven.

angry!Doctor and then the fact that Amy saved the day... and then the hug ♥

I think I'm going to be doing MUCH squeeing throughout Matt and Karen as Doctor and companion!

SQUEE is most likely going to be my default reaction to series 5 I'm thinking! Yes I loved Amy's realisation saving the day. And there are some people saying Amy still hasn't done much to prove herself, I just don't get that. But then I'm not of the opinion that a companion has to necessarily prove herself 'worthy' of the Doctor, because I hate that 'I only travel with the best' thing we've had from Nine and Ten.

I know!! And why should she have to prove herself worthy? Technically he actually picked her ;) AND if THAT isn't proving herself, then what the heck is?!

I agree with pretty much everything you said here.

"But she's gotten it all in a nutshell, very old, very lonely, very kind, cannot stand to see children cry. It's simple, it's magical and it's the Doctor. I love it. I love Moffat for boiling down five years of hyperbole about Lonely Gods and Oncoming Storms into just an old man with a sweet heart. "

I think this is what I loved the most about this episode and about how the new team is writing this show. I loved it! So much!
That ending was so sweet and so full of meaning I nearly cried...

Hello!

I'm just so enjoying the show in a way I haven't since at least 2007. Eleven and Amy are going to break my heart, I can feel it! If Moffat throws us any sad endings I'll be a goner!
