Top Movies and Performances of 2008

2008 was not a great year for movies, and not even a particularly good one, though it would be hard to live up to the amazing films of 2007. This was in fact the easiest year in recent memory for me to come up with my lists, once I saw enough year-end movies to actually find enough good female performances for the lead category. No Iron Man? I can accept some fancy schamancy movies to be ahead of it but not even in the top 20? *shakes fist*

I enjoyed it and it was definitely close to the top 20, but the ending was underwhelming (I'm not much of a fan of big fight scenes to resolve the plot). Robert Downey, Jr. was awesome though.

I tried to see Frost/Nixon last night, but they'd replaced the 7:20 show with Gran Torino. Soon!

I loved Gran Torino. But Clint's character was exactly like my grandfather so I think it was part nostalgia, part Clint is an awesome actor. Still, I recommend it for those who didn't have a grandfather like mine. *g*

Haven't seen Frost Nixon either but it looks awesome.
