pete and john were very odd, how they reacted to each other. sometimes they could be 'buddies and pals', but only of both wanted, other than that, they could get to be ugly enemies. i love how you said 'The Ox doesn't get mad. He gets even.' genius! john was a different kind of person, he never said much, but when he did, it was usually very important. i like that about him.
One of my favorite examples of John just getting even was when he destroyed Moon's hotel suite for having his dinner interrupted. I've heard the story a few times, but I like how Bill Curbishley tells it. He said John didn't even have any reaction, just got up, went in to Moon's room, totally destroyed it, dragged Moon in there and left. The way he tells it is priceless!
And yeah, he generally only talks when he's got something to say. And it's usually something deviously funny. ;)
it sure has been enlightening hanging out with all you here Who fans. as a high school Deadhead, my friend had to sit me down to make me hear the Who. (and Black Sabbath) Another friend practically tied me to the chair with Santa Marta Gold to make me Really Listen to all those Beatles songs i'd grown up singing. thanks for blogging. hope you're enjoying my little pieces as well....
I've seen that you seem to have a great many stories to tell. I'm hoping to get some time to sit down and read a bit soon, get back into the old lj swing of things. I appreciate your taking the time to read my meager attempts at sharing my love of this band :)
