I worked as a poll clerk one Canadian election. Every box is a rather small amount, so it can get counted quickly.

I'm watching CBC -- Yes, I'm a election-fanatic :)

i started out with global, but once the results started to roll in, cbc is definitely the place to be.

the best reality programming there is. eek. makes me so nervous.

Testify. Tory minority government. I think this is a god option, with the minority. BQ's got 51 seats and the NDP 22... this will prove interesting in working toward a cooperative agenda.

Back to CBC :) BC results, where I am located, should be counted in about an hour. Yay :)

i'm not sure i'd be a big fan of a tory majority, but the minority will indeed be interesting. it'll be good for a change, anyway, and lord knows that the ndp wasn't going to steal *that* many seats.

gotta wonder whether martin will manage to keep his leadership or not, though.

and you know i'm not going to bed until most of these polls are in.

I'm not sure where you stand voting wise (either of you) but I kind of wish Canada had gone Liberal. I'm just not a big fan of Conservative (though personally, most people down here in Hali voted NDP). Actually, I shouldn't even be talking, since I didn't vote (which I am now kicking myself for).

The Maritime provinces voted Liberal (PEI, NB and NS anyway, I haven't heard about NFLD yet) but what about out west and Ontario and Quebec? Mostly Conservative?

my riding - toronto centre - went liberal by a landslide, which was expected. it apparently is an urban minority and a rural majority.

personally, i'm an ndp leaning liberal, but coming from a smallish town, i totally understand the desire to have a conservative government, especially financially. it's issues like international relations, healthcare and social advancements that the conservatives concern me about.

being a minority means, though, that they'll have to cooperate with the liberals, as well as the ndp and bq to some extent. i think it'll be interesting, anyway.

coming from someone that was living in nyc when bush was re-elected, i'm not nearly as dissapointed, this time. (or as frightened.)

The riding I'm currently residing in (and my one at home - Moncton East) went NDP/Liberal (could have gone either way, really). Though I'm dissapointed that it's a conservative government, I'm glad that it's only a minority - because like you said, they'll have to cooperate with the Liberals and the NDP...and the BQ I suppose =P

And oh yea, this is a lot better than Bush!!

no kidding. no matter how buddy-buddy harper is with bush, i don't think that canada's conservatives are quite as adamant as most republicans.
