"Well, as you both know, Watson and Crick are the granddaddies of DNA. Without their discoveries, I'd have nothing to do all day."
Born in San Gabriel, California to an upper middle class family, Greg was the only child of a mother who intially wanted four children, thus making her rather over protective of her son, so much so that he was denied the chance to play any sports in school. It was something he took in stride, though, due to the fact that he truly wanted to be a scientist anyway, despite those around him telling him that science was a past time for 'pasty-faced and romantically challenged geeks'. He joined the Science Club in high school and eventually went on to graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University, California with a degree in chemistry. From there he went on to become a lab technician specializing in DNA at the Las Vegas Crime Lab, working the night shift along with the CSI team under Gil Grissom.
While content for the most part in the role as 'lab rat', Greg longed to be out in the field, but didn't become serious about actively persuing it until shortly after an accident in the lab caught him in the middle of an explosion that severely injured him. With Grissom's help and the support of those on his team, he made a successful transition from lab tech to CSI-1 and became a full-time fixture on his night shift team, even after a slight mistake while out on the field nearly set him back completely with his first proficiency test.
As a low ranking CSI, he was often given the more menial and basic tasks, but proved himself to not only be a competent investigator but a person of great moral standing when, on his first case as primary investigator, he stopped the brutal beating of a Texas tourist at the cost of his own physical safety, saving the man and grabbing much needed evidence for the difficult and terrible case. It was also revealed to Grissom at this time that he'd been hiding his change to field work from his parents, afraid that his overly protective mother would be upset that he was willingly placing himself in danger for the sake of work instead of being 'safe in the lab'. Grissom urged him to come clean to his parents, stating that she would be 'very proud' of his bravery and sacrifice to save the tourist from death. He's never stated if he ever did tell them.
Memories: Greg doesn't remember much of anything of his life. He showed up unable to recall his name or where he came from, but thanks to the CSI vest he was wearing when he was dropped in Keepsake Way, he was able to remember his full name. Unfortunately "CSI" "Forensics" and "Las Vegas, Nevada, Clark County" mean nothing to him still.
Character: Greg was taken about two months after episode 7.4,
Fannysmackin' in which he sustained several injuries from being beaten by several teenagers. His injuries have mostly healed by now and he was already back at work when he was taken. He also has extensive burn scaring on his back from several years previous when he was caught in a lab explosion. He remembers neither incident as of right now.
Class: Greg is a Weird-Class. He can remember how to read, write, use a computer, drive, ect, but all of his forensic training both for the DNA lab and in field work have been completely forgotten.
